A One-of-a-Kind Collaboration

A One-of-a-Kind Collaboration

At Pryor Marking Technology, we take immense pride in our Sheffield heritage and in supporting initiatives that strengthen our community. That’s why we’re honoured to be part of a truly special collaboration with our long-time neighbours and fellow Sheffield icons, William Whiteley & Sons, craftsmen of fine cutting tools since 1760.

Together, we’ve contributed to a powerful charitable project: the creation of a 12″ Special Edition Tailor’s Shear, produced in support of YWCA Yorkshire, a charity dedicated to empowering women, children, and families across South Yorkshire. And this isn’t just any tailor’s shear & it’s a “1 of 1” collector’s piece, both in spirit and stamp.

Marking a Moment That Matters

Our role? We were entrusted to create a bespoke stamping tool to mark this unique edition with the Whiteley crest, bringing together two legacies of Sheffield manufacturing excellence. This fresh tooling represents more than just a mark; it’s a testament to local craftsmanship, solidarity, and the enduring value of precision work.

But this project also called for something deeply personal.

To complement the new mark, Whiteley reached into their own archive and unearthed an original Pryor Type set. A well-used wooden kit from decades past. Using this piece of shared history, they hand-stamped “1 of 1” onto both the shears and the accompanying presentation box, cementing the item’s singular status. For us at Pryor, seeing our vintage stamp brought back to life for a cause like this is nothing short of inspiring.

Shears with a Purpose

Handcrafted from carbon steel and finished in YWCA Yorkshire’s signature purple, this exclusive pair of shears blends tradition with a powerful purpose. The gold-plated bolt adds a commemorative touch, while our marking tools bring authenticity and historical weight to the piece.

The shears are housed in a custom-made wooden box, laser-engraved with:

  • The Whiteley crest

  • The YWCA Yorkshire logo

  • The signature of Whiteley’s master craftsman, Andrew

  • And most importantly, YWCA Yorkshire’s mission:
“Creating better futures for women, children & families.”

This singular edition is not just a celebration of fine engineering and timeless design, it’s a symbol of resilience, hope, and community spirit.

Supporting YWCA Yorkshire

All proceeds from the charity raffle will go directly to YWCA Yorkshire, whose work across South Yorkshire provides safe, trauma-informed housing and support services for women and families facing hardship. From helping survivors of domestic abuse and sexual exploitation to tackling homelessness and poverty, their team creates life-changing pathways to independence and stability.

Our CEO, Mark White, is a proud former trustee of the charity, and our company has long been committed to causes that empower and uplift those around us.

This project reminds us why we do what we do. A mark can be more than just a symbol—it can be a story, a legacy, and a force for good. We’re proud to see Pryor’s stamp carry forward a message of hope and craftsmanship in our shared home of Sheffield.
