* Launches sub-contract marking service for other companies requiring marking solutions
Sheffield-based Pryor Marking Technology (Pryor) announced today that it has been awarded the prestigious Made in Sheffield mark. The award is recognition that Pryor has achieved and maintained a high standard for its products and services and builds on Sheffield’s long established, worldwide reputation as a centre of excellence for metalworking and production and the city’s continuing commitment to quality and excellence.
Mark Wadsworth, business development manager at Pryor, said: “Sheffield-based companies have been at the forefront of the international metal production and metalworking since the Industrial Revolution and Pryor is no exception. Even in the 21st century our heritage as a Sheffield-based company is a positive factor in maintaining and winning business. The awarding of the ‘Made in Sheffield’ status is a confirmation of quality, which will help us to build on the past for the benefit of the present and future.”
The distinctive Made in Sheffield logo will now be incorporated across Pryor’s full range of sales literature, its website (www.pryormarking.com) and exhibition material and this independent endorsement of the quality of the company’s products will further strengthen the company’s own messages of how quality production and experience can combine to provide customers with leading-edge solutions for marking and reading.
Sub-contract part-marking service
In addition to receiving the Made in Sheffield recognition, Pryor has launched a sub-contract part marking service. This means that companies within the region that require products or components to be marked, either with the Made in Sheffield logo, (for more information on registering for the scheme go to www.madeinsheffield.org), or other marks such as serial numbers or batch codes, can now utilise Pryor’s expertise and experience in the field.
Explaining the service, Mark Wadsworth said: “We have developed this service in response to initial demand from suppliers to the aerospace market, where part identification and traceability has become a key requisite for any supplier. However, we believe that more and more engineering and manufacturing organisations are recognising the value of UID (unique identification) and part traceability as part of their own drive towards better quality and a more sophisticated approach to the management of processes and production. He continued: “These organisations cannot always justify the financial outlay for marking equipment so now they can come to Pryor to fulfil all their marking needs.”
Pryor has established a dedicated team to provide this fast, reliable, low cost, high value service to customers. The final method of marking will be determined by design/customer specifications, the nature of the material being marked, its commercial value, and how, when and where the mark is going to be read later in the item’s life.
