IUID compliant marking and reading system at Paris Air Show

Pryor Marking Technology, a world leader in marking and code reading solutions for product traceability, will exhibit its IUID marking system on stand H10 in Hall 4 at the Paris Air Show, 18th-24th June 2007.

MecaGrav Industrie of Paris, and Absolute Vision Ltd will exhibit alongside parent company Pryor Marking Technology.  Press and visitors are encouraged to come and talk to the companies’ experts about the subject of compliant marking. This unique combination of man and machine readable codes can be applied to almost any surface using Pryor’s range of intelligent marking solutions. These systems not only format the data to the increasingly more complex international syntax standards but also automatically inspect and grade the resulting mark to the appropriate quality standards.

Specifically Pryor’s demonstration IUID marking solution comprises the Marktronic 2068 Type A dot-marking machine equipped with the unique VeriSmart™  integrated camera-based verifier, and the DataMouse™ Pro hand-held code reader.  These machines provide a single button solution to guarantee conformity with the internationally recognised standards of Spec 2000 in the Civil Aerospace industry and MIL 130 UID in the Defence sector. In particular, users do not have to be experts in the individual marking standards, because these systems will automatically ensure compliance.

Together the Pryor Group of companies undertakes compliant marking on a sole contract basis for a leading global aero-engine manufacturer.
In France, MecaGrav Industrie supports aerospace suppliers such as Hispano Suiza, Howmet (Alcoa), Malichaud Atlantique and more.

Alexandre Boldyreff, managing director of MecaGrav Industrie, commented: “We found that people have been slow to accept the need to invest in this new technology, but it is becoming essential that all suppliers to the Aerospace and Defence industries comply with the quality standards.”

“The Item Unique Identification (or IUID) syntax was ratified last year by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO); and it is currently out for ratification by NATO partners. Machine readable identification is rapidly becoming an essential element in all part traceability systems,” added Charlie Plain-Jones of Pryor.
